“Alzheimer’s and Dementia Complicate Everything” 2hrs. COPE # 89356-SD

An overview of the different types of dementia, prevalence and progressive stages of impairment will be completed. This course will review age related, chronic and acute visual conditions and detail effective management strategies for patients that may not be able to cooperate or communicate with ocular examination due to mild, moderate or severe cognitive impairment.

“Using Diagnostics to Diagnose Glaucoma Masqueraders”  1hr. COPE # 89773-GL

This course will use a case-based approach to help attendees learn to distinguish glaucoma patients from glaucoma masqueraders and will focus on the use of diagnostic auxiliary tests such as macular OCT scans, optic nerve OCT scans and visual fields to distinguish glaucoma masqueraders from glaucoma.

“Management of the Primary Angle Closure Spectrum” 1hr. COPE #  89817-GL

This course will review primary angle closure spectrum diagnosis and management. Terminology, classification, anatomy of angle structures, and gonioscopy grading systems will be briefly reviewed.

“Optimizing the Topical Medical Management of Glaucoma”  1hr. COPE # 88652-GL This course deals with various classes of glaucoma medications and when to consider and when not to consider certain agents. Understanding side effects, contraindications and factors that influence persistence and adherence to intraocular pressure lowering agents.

“Managing the Risks and Benefits of Pain Management with Opioid Analgesics” 1hr. COPE # 90492-PH

The course will cover the history of opioid analgesic agents, issues with opioid over-use and addiction, the definitions and mechanisms of pain, and assessing patients in pain. You will learn how to create an effective pain management plan including, non-pharmacologic management, non-opioid analgesic management, and management with opioid analgesics.
