assessing overall efficacy. Although we strive to schedule the follow-up IOP recheck visit near the
               same time of day as the initial check, there is some thought that it really does not make a meaningful
               difference, and this could well be true. Specifically regarding the beta-blocker trial, we ask the patient

               to instill the drop every morning, except for the morning of the follow-up visit; this enables us to be
               certain of good 24-hour efficacy.

               The key to successful glaucoma treatment is keeping dosing schedules as simple as possible;
               however, there are many times when it becomes necessary to resort to the three other categories of
               IOP-lowering medicines, which are alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonists, carbonic anhydrase
               inhibitors and, more recently, a Rho-kinase inhibitor.
